CAUSES OF LOWER BACK PAIN
Lower back pain is probably the most common condition we see in our clinic, and there are many causes. The majority of back pain is a result of the following conditions:
A mechanical problem with one or more of the joints of the spine or pelvis. The sacroiliac joints in the pelvis are probably most commonly involved.
Strains and sprains due to injuries , overuse or poor posture.
Arthritic degeneration
Damage to a disc, sometimes called a slipped or prolapsed disc, these are fortunately not very common and only about five percent of cases end up needing surgical intervention
Muscle spasm
There are also some rare more serious conditions that would require medical treatment, which we are trained to look for and if found we would immediately refer you to the appropriate specialist.
