HEADACHES
What Causes headaches?
The most common type of headaches that we see in our clinic are those that result from some type of mechanical dysfunction in the neck. These are called cervicogenic or tension headache, and can be caused by poor posture, arthritis, muscle spasm in the neck or shoulders and traumatic injuries to name a few.
What are the symptoms of a headache?
The pain can be felt aroundthe base of the skull but frequently spreads around to the forehead and around the eye and can vary in intensity from a mild ache to severe pain. The pain usually is exacerbated by head and neck movement and is sometimes complicated by dizziness or vertigo as there are important nerve receptors in the upper part of the cervical spine that are involved with balance.
